Do I have to have a physical location?  We use our service and we do not have a physical or walk-in location.  We are listed in Google as a Service Area Business and list ourselves as “By Appointment Only.”

Do I need SEO Keywords:  They are not required per se; we will get you listed by type of business in all of these places.  If you have other marketing driving name recognition, this service will still greatly enhance those efforts to be found.  You probably know a few search terms off the top of your head anyway. However, due to the technical way searches are handled by Google, Bing, Yahoo, etc., keywords are one fundamental part of most online marketing approaches.  The better understanding you or your marketing agencies have of what terms/key words work for you business, the better results you will get.

Do I really need voice search?  50% of all searches are voice searches.  Even desktop computer users are doing things by voice since 30-40% of Windows 10 users would rather ask the computer to search for them instead of typing into a search box.  It is simply much easier for people. Being listed in various services is not enough. For some business, like restaurants, having Google or Siri aware of your location could make the difference of someone on the street walking into or driving to your location. 

What are featured local listings in search and why are they important?  The short answer is that these listings are special and go to the top of the page and are very valuable.  People pay far, far more attention to the listings at the top of the page than even the items part way down, much less the bottom.  In the end, these listings can create a lot more clicks and views and even physical visits to your location(s).

Here is why:



Google makes a lot of money selling ads around the information that they curate for searches.  The more they can make you THE place for search, the more money they make. They do nt necessarily want to send people to your website.  To Google’s chagrin Sometimes, national brands with lots of money can rank well even if they do not really have the best offerings in a local market, though they may have great offerings on a national scale.  People trust search engines to provide “The Answer” enough that the top ranking position always gets astoundingly more clicks than the second place listing, and so forth down the line.



Sometimes folks are going to google to find a provider that they can drive or walk to or just call up for an immediate question.  Google wants to have that information at the searcher’s finger tips, without extra clicks in order to be THE source of information. 



So Google creates listings of local service providers for most searches.  Most of the time these lists are just below the advertisements and just before the generic organic search results.  Occasionally, these local search results are much lower. Regardless, items closer to the top get more attention, so having your listing in this select group can be very powerful.  The difference in click through rate just from the number 1 spot to the 2nd spot is enormous.



To prove that these are “local” results and to let people know where to walk or drive to, the local listing often includes a map with pins and a link to the Google My Business Page.  The top 3 listings are usually included in the initial search results, which can be expanded by a mouse click.

How much can this service help with SEO?  We offer this service because we found this approach dramatically improved our SEO.  However, we cannot answer this question directly because SEO depends on a variety of things.  One of the key factors for SEO are the incoming links to your site and the consistency of this information.  If you do not have many links or if your information is inconsistent, this service will help you dramatically with getting links.  However, if you have low quality content on your pages, the links will not help very much because Google wants to link to sites that answer real people’s real questions.  We can of course help you create high quality content for you pages.

Why do I care about directory services, I thought Google search results were enough.  For starters, Google pays attention to links to your website. When these services link to your website, Google likes you more. 



Google is a great research tool to find information about whether billboards work, why the sky is blue instead of green etc.  Companies that focus on answering these types of questions, can do a lot of effective marketing. However, many people turn to online directories to find companies that offer the services and products that they are looking to buy.  These online directories have replaced the yellow pages for most people. People using these services do NOT Google for listings—they go directly to the listing service they prefer to use..

What are Data Aggregators and why are they important?  Data aggregators scrape information from the web and then provide that information to variety of other sites and services, such as social media platforms, search engines, review sites, etc.  They are constantly looking for references about your business and attempting to determine your business’s “real” information. Lucky for us, they trust programs like ours very readily as a source of good information compared to random bits they see on the internet.  By submitting your information directly to them through us, you are taking control of the data about your company, which will increase the public’s faith that you are who you say you are.
